Pat Ford, 29, feeds Eight Ball at his workspace at 219 W Pike Street. Pat’s friend Jeff Maddox visited from Carlisle one day and accidentally brought over Eight Ball, a small black cat, who had hitched a ride in his fog light. Eight Ball is a stray and Pat made an effort to get him back home, but the cat ended up staying in Cynthiana. Eight Ball got his name because he is “hard to corner and black”. At first Eight Ball was shy, but after three months he became friends with Pat and accepts food and pats on the head.
Pat works a day job and then spends his evenings working on metal projects such as the new pillar at South Main Street and East Pike Street. The pillar repaired damage where a semi-truck hit 101 E Pike Street. Pat works long hours and is surprising his wife with a honeymoon that was postponed for three years.
